Children on the Edge exists to help forgotten children, living on the edge their societies across the globe.
Working with the Mercy Foundation in Lebanon, Children on the Edge have established tent schools in the refugee camps in the Bekaa Valley, providing education for 300 Syrian refugee children. 16 teachers have been trained from within the camps, which is creating a sense of ownership of the project throughout the community and providing vital livelihood opportunities. The children are following a Syrian curriculum in their own language and the schools are further developing the opportunity for them to play and enjoy being children. Many of these children have experienced trauma in Syria having witnessed the savage brutality of war, some of them having lost close family members. The ability to play is crucial for the healthy development of every child, helping them to feel secure, work out their feelings and tap into their natural resilience.
The Simon Drew Foundation is delighted to have commenced a partnership with Children on the Edge and will be raising money to support the School Costs of the Lebanese tent schools. To find out more about this project, click on the following link: Lebanon education
